During Carer’s Week last month, 59 Crossroads (Newton Stewart & Machars) service users, carers and friends enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon driving around the Machars.
During our tour, we visited Wigtown, Garlieston, Whithorn and when we reached Port William we sat in glorious sunshine and enjoyed an ice cream before heading up the coast to Auchenmalg before heading back along the A75.
The excursion brought back many memories and provoked much discussion and laughter on board, that is when a break in the singing allowed!
Our mystery excursion came to an end when we arrived at the Riverside Day Centre, Newton Stewart, where, when everyone had got settled, we all savoured the most delicious high tea.
One more treat was in store – the Lowland Lasses arrived and entertained with wonderful singing. We would have loved to have listened to them for much longer but it was time to bring the day to its conclusion and make our way back to the bus and home to bed, with memories of a marvellous day.
A big THANK YOU to all who helped in whatever way to make this such a special day.
